The Ethics Commision of the last few years, dominated by Perdue appointees, has "re-interpreted" long-standing policy on the existing law, that for years prohibited leftover campaign funds from going to non-profits, other than the charitable kind. They did so, when asked by the Governor in 2007 if he could move the aforementioned $787K into the Perdue PAC.

Richardson may have slipped up and not registered MMV properly, but this loophole needs to be closed comletely.

"The Willard Bill," to be introduced in the House next week, will prohibit the transfer of large amounts of campaign funds to other candidates, poltical parties, or to any PAC.

Campaign contributions should be used for expenses incurred running for office, and not be a slush fund for legislative leaders. If you are outraged by this, contact your state rep and ask them to support Wendel Willard's comprehensive ethics and campaign finance reform bill in 2010.

Man I hope this is correct; who would prosecute?

"A key difference: the governor registered PerduePAC as a non-profit corporation first."

A key difference: Sonny's just a little slicker, ain't he?
