about this page
This page covers  financial disclosures by public officials -- including personal finances, campaign accounts and business transactions with public agencies.

The State Ethics Commission's Web site provides the tools to analyze campaign funds for candidates for state office:

1) Click “Search by Expenditure” and enter a name in “Individual or Entity.” (This will find donations from political action committees or other candidates.)  Print the results or download them into Excel.

2) Click “Search by Name” to view a candidate’s reports of donations received. These can also be downloaded.

3) Compare the results from steps 1 and 2 to match up donors’ names, dates and amounts.

4) To compare contributions made before 2006, visit  the Georgia Secretary of State’s Web site. Most campaign reports here cannot be searched electronically. They must be printed out and compared visually.

Stephenson

Where did the money go?

March 23, 2009 -- State Rep. Pam Stephenson has failed to report more than $27,000 in political donations from special-interest groups since 2003, records show.
A pending state ethics complaint alleges the DeKalb County Democrat apparently failed to disclose about $20,000 in contributions.
The complaint did not specify the source of the donations. But a records search by AtlantaUnfiltered turned up $27,437 that donors said they gave her but that her campaign has not disclosed.
About $10,000 of the unreported donations occurred in the second quarters of 2006 and 2008. For both periods, Stephenson reported no contributions.

The State Ethics Commission has not scheduled a hearing on Stephenson’s case.
Georgia’s Ethics in Government Act requires that candidates for elective office report every campaign contribution of $101 or more. Each violation can incur a $1,000 fine.
